The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is witnessing rapid growth across the country, with mass registrations recorded in several northern states and plans underway to extend mobilisation efforts to all regions, according to the party’s founder and National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.
In a statement released on Thursday, March 19, Dickson thanked supporters in Zamfara, Katsina, FCT, Kano, and Jigawa States for registering on the NDC platform and mobilising others to join.
“We appreciate your efforts, which have contributed to the rapid growth of the NDC into a truly national party—strong, organised, and ready to compete democratically in the next elections,” he said.
The statement comes a day after youth groups and indigenes from the FCT, Nasarawa, and Niger States visited Dickson to formally register as party members and pledge their support for the political movement.
Dauda Ologbonjaye, who led the delegation, described the NDC as a credible platform committed to transparency, inclusiveness, and people-driven governance.
He assured the National Leader of their commitment to mobilising support across Nasarawa and Niger States, emphasising that the party represents hope for a better Nigeria.
Dickson announced that mobilisation would soon expand beyond the north.
“By next week, our compatriots in the South West, South East, North Central, North East, and North West will join the South South in full mobilisation for the membership registration exercise,” he said.
Dickson Warns Against Violence, Smear Campaigns
The former Bayelsa State governor used the statement to caution against attempts to intimidate the party or its supporters.
“Those who, out of pettiness, envy, and fear, resort to using state resources to sponsor smear campaigns or incite violence should do so in their own name, not in ours,” Dickson said.
He maintained that he has never been associated with political violence throughout his career.

“It is always the party with federal and state might and resources that deploys thugs, military, and other security agents to kill and maim innocent supporters of mine over the years,” he added.
Dickson declared that the NDC would not be deterred by intimidation.
“The NDC has come to stay. No amount of intimidation or smear campaign can deter us, and the sooner this is understood, the better,” he said.
He urged opponents to focus on preparing their candidates and presenting ideas to Nigerians rather than engaging in “violence, propaganda, and public disorder.”
A Vision Dating Back To 2017
Dickson revealed that the NDC was not a hastily conceived project but the result of years of planning.
“It is the product of years of vision, planning, and perseverance, dating back to 2017, when I foresaw the need for a strong, ideologically driven democratic party in Nigeria. We persevered through legal and political challenges until we finally secured victory in court,” he explained.
He called on party members and supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and continue mobilisation efforts in a responsible manner.
“For us in the NDC, our strength lies in our discipline, our message, and our commitment to democratic ideals—not in confrontation or disorder,” Dickson said.
The National Leader also urged security agencies to act against individuals inciting violence under the guise of supporting those in authority.
He reminded Nigerians that members and supporters of the NDC have constitutional rights to belong to any political party of their choice.
“Nigeria cannot, and must not, become a one-party state. Democracy must survive, and the voices of all Nigerians must continue to count,” Dickson concluded.
