Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom on Wednesday lauded the efforts of the Independent National Electoral Commission and security operatives in the just concluded governorship election in Anambra State.
According to him, the conduct of the election showed that INEC had turned a new leaf and would perform up to expectations in the coming general elections.
This is coming as INEC, Wednesday morning declared Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, winner of the governorship election held in Anambra State on November 6.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Nathaniel Ikyur, Ortom congratulated Soludo, saying the victory was a true reflection of the wishes of the people of the state and not the machinations of some individuals or groups outside the state.
He also saluted the dogged determination of the Anambra people from the beginning of the campaign till the final declaration of the results to overcome intimidation, coercive threats of force and uphold their wishes, and express their franchise by freely electing their choice.
He added that the election showed a brighter future for the state, praying God to grant the governor-elect wisdom to rule his subject when he assumes office.
