Popular Nigerian disc jockey, Obianuju Catherine Udeh, fondly called DJ Switch has responded to the report presented by the Lagos judicial panel of inquiry over the Lekki tollgate shooting of October 20, 2020.
According to the report submitted by the panel, at least nine persons were confirmed dead,at the Lekki toll plaza on the night soldiers stormed there to disassemble the unarmed #EndSARS protesters.
The panel listed 48 names as fatalities of the incident. Among these 48 people, about 20 sustained gunshot injuries, while 13 others were assaulted by the military.
After seeing the panel’s report DJ Switch took to her Twitter page and wrote, “Shattered so many lives, tried to destroy mine. Only for what you desperately tried to hide to be made public… by you! The truth needs no defence! #EndSARS.”
The 29-year-old attained more significance last year when she took to her Instagram page to do a live coverage that showed protesters being shot at by staff of the Nigerian Army at the Lekki Toll Gate during the #EndSARS protest that swayed the nation last year.
While most Nigerians applauded her for her bravery, she has been on the run from the Nigerian government because of the video.
Popular activist, Rinu while cheering the DJ, took to her verified Twitter page asserting that the event of October 20, 2020, changed and halted the life of the disc jockey.
She tweeted, “DJ Switch suffered for over a year on the Lekki massacre. Career and life halted, embarrassed, trolled, hounded out of her home, her country, everything she had going nicely, stopped. All because she was brave enough to stand, document the kïllings and say the truth.”
Also a Popular On-Air Personality, Frank Edoho tweeted, “Even George Lucas’ company, Industrial Light and Magic does vfx for recorded footage yet liars claimed that DJ Switch had the resources to doctor a live IG video showing people being shot at. It’s the liars among us(the citizens) that need to hang their heads in crying shame.”
