Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate in the forthcoming 2023 elections, has requested that Atiku Abubakar step down as Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate and support him (Tinubu).
When Atiku ran for president in 2007 as a candidate for the Action Congress of Nigeria, Tinubu said he stepped down for him and therefore, asked him to return the favor by abandoning his bid and endorsing him.
Tinubu stated this on Monday, at an interactive session with leaders of some northern groups under the auspices of the Arewa Joint Committee.
In advance of the general elections in 2023, the meeting was a part of a larger interaction with a few presidential hopefuls.
Two days after his PDP competitor had similar conversations with the northern leaders, the APC presidential candidate made an appearance.
A coalition of six northern organisations, including the Arewa Consultative Forum, Jamar Matan Arewa, Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, and others, organised the interactive session that took place in the Arewa House in Kaduna.
