The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai has recorded a major success in ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the North-East, neutralising several Boko Haram terrorists and destroying a logistics vehicle during a precision airstrike in Borno State.
The operation was carried out in the early hours of June 7 in the Cross Kauwa–Ali Sherifti general area following intelligence reports on terrorist activities within the location.
According to statement issued by the Nigerian Army and shared on its Facebook page on Tuesday, the operation was launched after credible intelligence identified the presence of insurgents and their logistical support assets in the area.
The statement added that, aircrew members reportedly observed a group of terrorists concealed beneath trees, while another group was sighted near a vehicle hidden under dense foliage.
It was gathered that the aircraft conducted a precision strike on the first group, resulting in the elimination of eight terrorists.
The military said a subsequent Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) revealed additional insurgents attempting to flee the area after the initial strike.
In response, the aircraft carried out a follow-up attack targeting the fleeing terrorists and the concealed vehicle believed to be providing logistical support to the insurgent group.
The strike destroyed the vehicle and neutralised the remaining terrorists. Military authorities said the vehicle was seen engulfed in flames after the attack.
Military assessment of the target area reportedly confirmed the absence of any surviving terrorist movement, indicating that the operation achieved its intended objectives.

The military described the operation as a significant blow to terrorist logistics and operational capabilities, noting that the destruction of support assets is critical to ongoing efforts to limit insurgents’ mobility and sustain pressure on their networks.
Operation Hadin Kai said the successful mission demonstrates the effectiveness of intelligence-led operations and continued coordination between air and ground forces in the fight against insurgency in the North-East.
The Armed Forces of Nigeria reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling terrorist networks, denying insurgents freedom of action and destroying infrastructure used to support terrorist operations.
Military authorities also assured residents that sustained offensive operations would continue across the region in collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders to restore lasting peace, security and stability in the North-East and across the country.
