Ibadan Welcomes New Era as Rotating Statue of Olubadan Unveiled at Coronation

A striking rotating statue of the newly installed Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasheed Ladoja, was unveiled on Friday as part of his coronation ceremony at the iconic Mapo Hall.

The artwork, portraying the monarch in full traditional regalia, immediately captured the admiration of the massive crowd of indigenes, dignitaries, and well-wishers who turned out to celebrate the momentous occasion.

More than just a display, the rotating feature was widely viewed as a symbol of renewal and progress in the city’s traditional leadership, blending cultural heritage with modern artistry.

The unveiling formed a highlight of the activities marking Oba Ladoja’s ascension as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Earlier in the day, the former Oyo State governor underwent customary rites at the Ose Meji shrine and the Labosinde Compound before arriving at Mapo Hall for the grand coronation ceremony.

The historic event drew a host of prominent figures, including government officials, political leaders, eminent Yoruba traditional rulers, and members of the diplomatic corps, all gathered to witness Ibadan’s newest royal chapter.
