A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has launched a new recruitment push ahead of the 2027 general elections, publicly inviting former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and other high-profile figures to join the party.
The call was announced by the factional National Chairman, Nafiu Gombe, in a communiqué issued on Tuesday, January 13, following the inauguration of the party’s North-East Zonal Congress Committee in Gombe State on January 11.
The event was organised by the party’s national leadership and presided over by Dr Muhammad Muhammad.
Gombe said the inauguration is part of a wider plan to expand the party’s footprint, deepen internal democracy and strengthen structures in the North-East through “transparent and credible congresses.”
The communiqué said the party ratified key officials to supervise the zonal congress process, naming Mrs Patience Alex as Chairperson of the North-East Zonal Congress Committee and Mr Abayomi Adekunle as Chairman of the Zonal Appeal Committee.
Against that backdrop, the ADC faction issued a direct appeal to political leaders it described as crucial to building a stronger national coalition.

He said, “The authentic national leadership of the ADC passionately appeals to and invites the following eminent personalities to join the party in its mission to rebuild and reposition Nigeria.
“Those invited include the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed; the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri; former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki; former President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan; Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde; Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti; and Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
“The ADC believes their experience, leadership, and patriotism are crucial in uniting efforts to make Nigeria great again.”
The communiqué said the party is positioning itself as a “credible, inclusive, and progressive” alternative, with a focus on good governance, national unity and sustainable development.
It added that the ADC will continue mobilising Nigerians across all regions behind what it described as a new political direction rooted in “accountability, equity, and the collective aspiration to make Nigeria great again.”
The expansion push comes amid widening political realignments after Peter Obi, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, recently moved to the David Mark-led ADC, a development that has further energised discussions about possible alliances and defections ahead of 2027.
