Police in Ogun State have arrested a suspect, God time Ekanem, for allegedly attempting to rape one Mrs Jelila Oyinbo in her matrimonial home.
The suspect, who allegedly has been in the habit of sexually harassing the woman was said to have forcefully entered her matrimonial home and attack her with the intent of sleeping with her.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola confirmed this to news men in a statement in Abeokuta on Friday.
Odutola said immediately the suspect entered the victim’s house on September 26, 2023, at MTN Estate in Mowe Ofada area of the state, she struggled with him and later informed her brother-in-law, one Michael Oyewole.
She explained that the victim’s brother-in-law came in and engaged the suspect in a fight resulting to him hitting the brother-in-law with hammer on his hand while the later was also able to cut the suspect’s head with a cutlass.
The Police PRO explained further that the brother-in-law overpowered the suspect and he took to his heels and abandoned both his mobile phone and slippers in the room of the victim.
She noted that the police have also arrested Micheal Oyewole, while Ekanem has been taken to hospital for medical attention.
