One dies, others injured in attack on Lagos politician

A Lagos politician, Mr Olatunbosun Williams, is currently in hiding, following a deadly attack on his home by some fearsome political thugs.

A life was reportedly lost in the attacks while others sustained severe injuries.

Williams, a resident of Idowu Oya Street, Kola Alagbado Lagos, reportedly claimed that his traducers were loyal to a faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) working for particular aspirant in the forthcoming council election in Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

It was gathered that they had earlier warned him to choose between abandoning politics entirely or be prepared to die, “simply because I’m not in support of their candidate who wants to be chairman of Ojokoro”.

“Recently, they stormed his house at night, armed with guns, machetes and other dangerous weapons and their intention was to go kill my wife and children at a time he travelled out of town.

“Luckily, his wife and two children were not at home as they went for a church vigil programme,” a source within the neighbourhood, who preferred anonymity owing to the sensitivity of the issue, disclosed.

“Earlier, however, they had attacked his gateman and rendered him almost lifeless, and I gathered they also attacked a night guard in the neighbourhood who tried to stop them.

“I gathered also that the said nightguard, known as Mr. Oladele, later died of wounds in the hospital,” the source further revealed

Williams, it was learnt, is currently in hiding as his political enemies are still after him.
