President Bola Tinubu has officially ratified the appointment of Wura-Ola Adepoju as the substantive Comptroller General (CG) of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS).
The revelation was made during an address to the men and officers of the service at a routine parade on Wednesday.
Adepoju expressed her gratitude, stating, “Through the grace of God and the benevolence of the present government, I have been confirmed as a substantive Comptroller General of Immigration.”
The details of her official decoration are expected to be disclosed to the public shortly.
Following the conclusion of the tenure of the former CG, Isah Jere, on May 29, 2023, Adepoju, holding the position of the most senior deputy comptroller-general (DCG), assumed the role of acting CG. Her confirmation marks a pivotal moment in the leadership of the NIS.
In addition to Adepoju’s confirmation, the CG announced the elevation of certain members of the top management team who recently participated in a promotion examination. These individuals have been promoted to the esteemed ranks of deputy Comptrollers-general (DCGs), further shaping the leadership landscape of the immigration service.
