Ex-Mokola Barracks Boys give out Xmas gifts to slain soldiers’ widows at grand re-union

Widows of slain soldiers at Letmuck Barracks, Mokola, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Friday revealed that they weep everytime they see colleagues of their late husbands still serving in the Nigerian Army.

The widows spoke at a mega reunion organised by Ex-Mokola Barracks Boys Association, during which items were distributed to them.

The event which took place at the 81 Battalion Soldiers Club, was attended by 81 Battalion RSM 81, M. Lawal and Signal RSM, N. Ekong.

Widows numbering about thirty were given items which included food items and detergents that during the programme, which was attended by EXBBA members at home and abroad.

Some of the widows, who spoke with our Correspondent, expressed their gratitude to the organization for its usual financial support to them, especially during Yelutide period.

The widows revealed that life has become more difficult for then since the demise of their husbands, and that they cry each time they see colleagues of their late husbands still working.

Also in an interview with our Correspondent, the Overall Letmuck Barracks Cantonment Mogajia, Mrs. Oyedepo Asanat, commended EXBBA for always reaching out to widows of slain soldiers in the barracks.

Mrs. Oyedepo said, “It is a big joy to see the ex-Mokola barracks boys giving assistance to our widows. On behalf of all Magajias in this barracks, I’m saying a very big thank you to the organization. Our widows really appreciate their kind gestures”.

Earlier in his welcome address, President of the organization, Hon. Godwin Obode (Gordons), said the organization was formed in recognition of members’ humble backgrounds as children of solders who served and lived in the barracks.

“We have our members all over the world today making waves in different spheres of life. We thank God that today, we have become a pride to this barracks. Our fathers made sacrifices for this country, and we are ready to contribute our own quota by reaching out to widows of slain soldiers”, Hon. Obode explained.

Other executives of EMBBA include: Ajibola Olatonirin (Gen. Secretary), John Shore (Asst Gen. Secretary), Zabiri Godfrey (Treasurer), Oyase Victor (Provost), Oddiah Emmanuel (Auditor), and Oguntubi Olusegun (Ex-Officio).
