PDP crisis: Don’t mind Fayose, ignore his threat, Olujimi tells Makinde

Federal lawmaker, Senator Biodun Olujimi, has urged Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, to discountenance threats by former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, to move against him if he interferes in the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.

She enjoined Makinde to maintain his stance on truth regarding the crisis rocking PDP in Ekiti State.

Olujimi, who described Makinde as the party’s leader in the South-West geo-political zone, urged the Oyo governor to continue with his quest “to reposition, galvanise and salvage the party from the brinks of collapse.”

Fayose had on Wednesday in Abeokuta, Ogun State, warned Makinde not to meddle in the political affairs in Ekiti State.

But Olujimi, who currently represents Ekiti South Senatorial District, during a meeting of her faction of the PDP, described Fayose and his collaborators as ‘political jobbers,’ asking Makinde to ignore their threats.

She said, “Makinde is the symbol of the party in the South-West. So, anything that must come from the zone must come through. Fayose and his conspirators’ visit to Uche Secondus was nothing but a recreational. I can take anybody to the National Secretariat of the party and we take pictures.

“What is important is what was said. While they were there nothing could have been said. We stand by Makinde because nobody can rubbish him and wish him away. This is the best time South-West Zone needs the governor most when ‘hijackers’ are trying to undermine the party’s structure through egregious conspiracy.”

Factional PDP Chairman in the state, Kehinde Odebunmi, who spoke on behalf of the stakeholders, said, the party had resolved to “give Makinde all the needed support towards bringing South-West PDP out of political oblivion”, hence their nod for him “to continue with his resolve to build a strong and united PDP in the zone.”
