Super Eagles in top seed for AFCON 2025 draw

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been placed in Pot 1 for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) draw.

This decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) reflects Nigeria’s strong position as the fifth-ranked team in Africa according to the latest FIFA Rankings.

Joining Nigeria in Pot 1 are teams like Morocco, Senegal, Algeria, Tunisia, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Mali, South Africa, Cameroon, and Democratic Republic of Congo.

The draw, set to happen in Johannesburg, South Africa, will determine the groups for the qualifiers.

Twelve groups will be formed (Groups A to L), with each group containing four teams. The top two teams from each group (excluding Morocco’s group) will qualify for AFCON 2025.

The tournament will take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

Football fans are eagerly awaiting the draw ceremony, which promises excitement and anticipation as teams learn their paths to the prestigious AFCON competition.
