The All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council has called on Asue Ighodalo to join its campaign efforts following a recent court decision that voided the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election which had declared him as their candidate.
In a statement by Comrade Orobosa Omo-Ojo, Director of the Publicity Committee of the APC Governorship Campaign Council, the APC emphasized that the court’s decision was aimed at preventing the imposition of an unpopular candidate on the people of Edo State.
“The news of the disqualification of Mr. Asue Ighodalo as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate has been received by Edo people as relief from imposition of forgery and continuation of self-serving governance in our state,” the statement read.
The APC, known as a progressive party, extended an invitation to Ighodalo to collaborate with Senator Monday Okpebholo in their efforts to reclaim the state and initiate measures for its prosperity.
“What is more important at this point is the interest of Edo people who are eagerly waiting for solutions that will ensure food security, accessible and affordable healthcare, and a thriving economy,” the statement continued.
Response from Asue Ighodalo and PDP
Asue Ighodalo, the affected candidate, and the PDP leadership have not yet responded to this call from the APC Campaign Council. The situation remains fluid as political developments continue to unfold in Edo State ahead of the upcoming elections.
This call underscores the competitive nature of the political landscape in Edo State and sets the stage for intensified campaigns and engagements in the lead-up to the polls.
