In a dramatic turn of events, Argentina’s equalizer in their Olympic match against Morocco was disallowed by VAR, leading to a contentious 2-1 victory for Morocco.

The match, which initially ended 2-2, saw Morocco leading 2-1 late in the second half before Argentina appeared to equalize in the 106th minute. However, after an extraordinary two-hour delay for a VAR review, the goal was ruled out, and the match briefly resumed for three minutes before concluding with Morocco’s win.

Javier Mascherano, a key figure in the Argentine camp, expressed his disbelief, “It’s the biggest circus I’ve ever seen in my life.” he said

The game, which started at 3 PM, only finished at 7 PM, leaving fans and players alike stunned by the unprecedented decision.

The disallowed goal and the extended delay have sparked widespread debate and criticism, highlighting the ongoing controversies surrounding the use of VAR in football.
