Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium fails CAF approval; Rangers to play CAFCL Matches in Uyo

Gifted Markson

Rangers fans were dealt a blow as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu did not meet the necessary standards to host continental football matches.

The decision comes after an assessment of the facility, which revealed that it did not meet CAF’s requirements.

As a result, Rangers International will play their CAF Champions League (CAFCL) matches at the Nest of Champions in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

This development means that the team will miss out on the unique and intimidating atmosphere typically created by their passionate home crowd in Enugu.

The switch to Uyo’s Nest of Champions, a modern facility with a reputation for excellent conditions, will provide a high-quality venue for Rangers’ continental campaign.

However, the absence of their traditional home-ground advantage could be a disadvantage as they compete on the big stage.
