The Super Eagles of Nigeria, under the leadership of interim coach Augustine Eguavoen, secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Benin Republic in their 2024 AFCON qualifiers at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Ademola Lookman opened the scoring at the stroke of halftime, netting a brilliant solo effort in the 45+2 minute to give Nigeria the lead.

The second half saw Victor Osimhen, who came on as a substitute, doubling the lead with a clinical finish in the 78th minute. Lookman completed his brace just five minutes later, sealing the 3-0 triumph for the Super Eagles.

The victory was particularly sweet as Nigeria triumphed over former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, now in charge of the Benin Republic team.

Fans were thrilled with the team’s performance and are eagerly anticipating their next fixture against Rwanda on September 10.

With this win, the Super Eagles strengthened their position in the AFCON qualification race, showcasing their attacking prowess and defensive solidity.
