Popular comedian Basketmouth has shared his thoughts on why he believes Nigeria’s situation may never improve.
During an interview that has since gone viral with AFRIMMA, the entertainer expressed his discontent over the nation’s current economic woes and the quality of its leadership.
He pointed to the continuous depreciation of the naira and the steep inflation rate since 1970 as evidence of the country’s downward trend.
In a viral video, the funny act said “Nothing can be done, quote me anywhere. Think about it.
“In the year I was born 1970, it was one naira to a dollar but now N1600 to one dollar.
“There was never a time from 1970 that the dollar crashed and went back to what it was. It has never happened. Every time it changes, all the conversations you will be hearing are ‘E go better, E go better.’ it is getting worse.
“What are the policies? And what have they done? Now 100 pages of passport has been increased to N100,000. I suspect that our government planned to make the Nigerian population suffer. So that when they suffer they can now want to japa, then they will increase the price of the passport to make more money,” he said.
“It is not like I have given up hope, I’m hopeful maybe one day the country will be better. Let all believe in that pipe dream. It’s over”, he added.
