Senate Calls for Increased Vigilance After Jigawa Tanker Explosion Tragedy

In the wake of the devastating petrol tanker explosion in Majia Town, Jigawa State, which claimed over 90 lives and left 50 others severely injured, the Senate has urged security agencies to be more proactive in responding to such incidents nationwide.

The Senate observed a minute of silence in honour of the victims and called on the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide immediate relief for the survivors.

The lawmakers also called on the National Orientation Agency and relevant authorities to ramp up public awareness campaigns on the dangers of fuel scooping during accidents, aiming to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
