Fubara Unhappy with Okrika Grammar School Upgrade, Takes Over Supervision

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed dissatisfaction with the progress and quality of work on the remodelling and upgrade of Okrika Grammar School in Okrika Local Government Area.

Speaking during an inspection of the project on Monday, the Governor emphasized his dismay at the pace and standard of the infrastructure development.

“I am not satisfied with the progress of work on Okrika Grammar School. What I’ve seen on ground does not justify the reports that the project is 70 percent complete,” Governor Fubara stated during the visit.

He further stressed the importance of the school to the state and his personal commitment to seeing it delivered to the highest standards, revealing that he would now take over direct supervision of the project to ensure compliance and value for money.

“Given the strategic position of the school and my interest in getting the best for the people of Rivers State, I will personally take charge of this project to guarantee it meets the required specifications,” the Governor added.

Governor Fubara also hinted at tough measures for contractors failing to meet deadlines and quality standards.

“I will summon all contractors handling government projects to a meeting. They will either fulfill their contractual obligations or face severe consequences,” he warned.

The governor’s remarks underscore his administration’s dedication to ensuring that key state projects are completed to the highest standard, with the aim of delivering lasting value to the people of Rivers State.
