The Nigeria Police Force has rejected allegations of mistreatment towards newly recruited personnel undergoing training at its colleges.

A viral video purportedly showed these recruits facing substandard conditions, including inadequate food provisions and welfare.

In response, Force Spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi issued a statement on Saturday, clarifying that the video in question is outdated. He explained that it was originally broadcast by Channels Television over a decade ago.

“The video, which was originally a special report released by Channels Television, dates back over ten years and reflects the training environment at the Police Training College in Ikeja during that period,” Adejobi said.

“The then Federal Government leadership responded to the call and carried out repairs in the college and improved the feeding condition of police trainees.”

He also noted that there have been significant improvements in the training conditions since then, due to various leadership changes within the Nigeria Police Force.

“The recirculation of the video seems to be a deliberate act to create a wrong impression of the police system and, most likely, the handiwork of mischief makers to malign the police authority,” he added.

Adejobi concluded by stating that the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to providing excellent training for police recruits and ensuring the welfare of personnel in general.
