The North Central region is also likely to experience similar dusty conditions and reduced visibility within the same range during the forecast hours.
In the southern parts of the country, inland areas are expected to be sunny with hazy conditions, while morning thunderstorms with light rain are anticipated in some locations, including Lagos, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River States. By afternoon and evening, areas in southern Ondo, Ogun, Lagos, Edo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Delta states may see thunderstorms with brief showers.
On Tuesday, NiMet projects continued light dust haze with 2–5-kilometer visibility in the North, while the North Central region will experience similar conditions.
The southern inland is expected to remain sunny with haze, and the coastal states will likely see cloudy patches throughout the day.
On Wednesday, the northern region should see further dust haze with visibility between 2 and 5 kilometers, while North Central will have similar conditions. Inland southern areas are predicted to stay sunny and hazy, with scattered clouds over coastal areas. By later in the day, moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected in parts of Lagos, Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom.
NiMet advised the public to take precautions due to the presence of dust particles in the air, especially those with asthma or respiratory issues.
The agency also noted that strong winds could precede thunderstorms in affected regions.
