The Osun State Government has announced a significant increase in the minimum wage for its civil servants, with the approval of N75,000 as the new standard.
Governor Ademola Adeleke signed off on this decision, following the recommendations of the Public Service Negotiation Committee.
In a statement released by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Kolapo Alimi, it was revealed that the governor acted on the committee’s report, which involved input from both government and labor representatives.
Leading the government’s side of the negotiations was Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Kazeem Akinleye, while the labor team was headed by Osun NLC Chairman, Christopher Arapasopo.
Alimi emphasized that the Governor’s approval reflects a deep commitment to the welfare of civil servants, who play a crucial role in delivering essential services to the people of Osun State.
Despite the state’s limited resources, Governor Adeleke’s administration remains focused on ensuring that civil servants are adequately compensated for their efforts.
“This new wage demonstrates the administration’s ongoing dedication to improving the quality of life for our public servants.
We hope that this will also inspire greater efficiency and accountability in public service, ensuring continued growth and development for Osun State,” Alimi stated.
Chief of Staff Akinleye also expressed gratitude for the governor’s prompt approval, underscoring the positive impact the wage increase will have on the morale and productivity of the state’s civil service.
This move follows increasing demands from labor unions across the country for improved wages and better working conditions, as many states seek to address the rising cost of living.
