Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, is in mourning following the passing of his elder brother, Engineer Sunday Makinde.
The sad news was disclosed in a statement released on Friday by the Special Adviser (Media) to the Governor, Sulaimon Olanrewaju.
Engineer Sunday Makinde, aged 65, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, at his residence in Ibadan.
The announcement was made by his brother, Chief Olumuyiwa Makinde, the Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland and Head of the Aigbofa Family of Oja’ba, Ibadan.
“With a heavy heart, I announce the passage of my older brother, Engr. Sunday Makinde, to eternal glory today, Friday, 24th of January 2025,” the statement quoted Chief Olumuyiwa Makinde as saying.
The late Engineer Sunday Makinde is survived by his siblings, including Governor Seyi Makinde, as well as children and grandchildren.
His sudden death occurred at 3:20 am on Friday, January 24, 2025.
This tragic loss has sent shockwaves through the Makinde family and beyond, with the people of Oyo State and many others extending their condolences to the Governor and the Makinde family during this difficult time.
