President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in eight new Federal Permanent Secretaries at the State House, Abuja, before the first Federal Executive Council meeting of the year.
The ceremony followed remarks by the State House Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Abiodun Oladunjoye.
The new permanent secretaries are Onwusoro Ihemelandu (Abia), Ndiomu Philip (Bayelsa), Anuma Nlia (Ebonyi), Ogbodo Nnam (Enugu), Usman Aminu (Kebbi), Oyekunle Nwakuso (Rivers), Nadungu Gagare (Kaduna), and Kalba Usman (Gombe).
Additionally, Tinubu swore in 18 Federal Commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission. These include Linda Oti (Abia), Akpan Effiong (Akwa Ibom), Enefe Ekene (Anambra), Prof. Steve Ugba (Benue), Chief Eyonsa (Cross-River), Aruviere Egharhevwe (Delta), Nduka Awuregu (Ebonyi), Victor Eboigbe (Edo), Wumi Ogunlola (Ekiti), Ozo Obodougo (Enugu), and Kabir Mashi (Katsina).
Other appointees include Adamu Fanda (Kano), Dr. Kunle Wright (Lagos), Aliyu Abdulkadir (Nasarawa), Bako Shetima (Niger), Samuel Durojaye (Ogun), Nathaniel Adejutelegan (Ondo), Saad Ibrahim (Plateau), Modu-Aji Juluri (Yobe), Bello Garba (Zamfara), and Mohammed Usman (Gombe).
The appointment also includes Kayode Oladele as a Federal Character Commissioner and Victoria Iyatan as a National Population Commission member.
A minute’s silence was observed in honour of Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Useni, a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, who passed away on January 23, 2025.
The Federal Executive Council resumed its meeting after a six-week recess, which had been announced by Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, on December 16, 2024.
