A small plane crashed on a major avenue in Sao Paulo on Friday, killing two people and injuring six others, authorities confirmed.
The aircraft, a King Air F90, had just taken off from Campo de Marte airport when it skidded for hundreds of meters along the road, colliding with a bus before exploding, according to firefighter chief Ronaldo Melo.
The pilot and the sole passenger on board did not survive.
It remains unclear whether the aircraft was attempting an emergency landing at the time of the crash.
However, all bus passengers managed to escape before the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Television footage showed thick plumes of smoke rising into the sky as firefighters worked swiftly to control the blaze.
