The Labour Party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on Friday endorsed Peter Obi, its 2023 presidential candidate, as its candidate for the 2027 general election.
The party also backed Governor Alex Otti‘s re-election bid in Abia State and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour for Lagos State.
National Publicity Secretary Abayomi Arabambi, speaking from Abeokuta, Ogun State, explained that Obi has gained significant support, particularly from Nigerian youths, due to dissatisfaction with President Bola Tinubu’s policies.
Arabambi emphasised the party’s focus on democratically removing the All Progressives Congress (APC) from power.

“Our major focus is getting the APC out of office only through the ballot box if Nigerians so desire, and not through illegitimate means,” he stated.
The party reaffirmed Obi’s candidacy for the presidency, as well as its commitment to Otti’s re-election and Rhodes-Vivour‘s Lagos gubernatorial bid.
Arabambi concluded, “We are united in our resolve to bring about a better Nigeria under the leadership of Peter Obi.”
