The Lagos State Government has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Summa Group, an internationally recognized construction company, to commence work on the much-anticipated Lekki-Epe International Airport.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a statement shared on his official X handle on Saturday, described the project as a key component of his administration’s strategy to enhance connectivity, boost economic growth, and attract global investments to Lagos.
According to the governor, the airport will play a crucial role in easing transportation challenges in the state while positioning Lagos as a leading economic hub in Africa.
“This groundbreaking initiative is an essential part of our vision to improve connectivity in Lagos, stimulate economic growth, and draw in global investments,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
He further emphasized that the project would open new opportunities for businesses and residents, reinforcing Lagos’ reputation as a forward-thinking megacity.

The Lekki-Epe International Airport is expected to complement the rapid industrial and commercial development in the Lekki Free Trade Zone, home to major investments such as the Dangote Refinery and the Lekki Deep Seaport.
With its strategic location, the airport is set to improve air travel access, decongest the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, and attract multinational businesses looking to set up operations in Lagos.
As construction begins, the Lagos State Government remains committed to delivering a world-class facility that meets global standards while driving long-term economic benefits for residents and investors alike.
