El-Rufai on Tinubu Drama: ‘We’ve Moved On, but They Can’t Sleep’

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has dismissed claims that he opposed President Bola Tinubu’s emergence and is now critical of his administration due to his failed ministerial nomination.

Responding to an X user, Yusuf Tukur, on Sunday, El-Rufai maintained that his support for Tinubu was driven by loyalty to God, Nigeria, and the APC, not personal gain.

“We did what we did for God, Country and Party, expecting nothing in return. What is unfolding is merely another life experience, and part and parcel of human nature. We have got over it and moved on, but their conscience won’t let them sleep well. Thanks anyway,” he tweeted.

Tukur had argued that Tinubu and his allies sought El-Rufai’s backing before the 2023 election, praising him at the time but later accusing him of opposition.

“When they were desperately seeking @elrufai’s support, @officialABAT and his goons were all over the place singing Malam’s praises.

“Given their penchant for ingratitude, however, they’ve turned around and claimed that Malam didn’t even support PBAT,” Tukur wrote.

El-Rufai, who has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with Tinubu’s policies, insisted that he has moved on, while his critics struggle with their conscience.
