Amid reports of opposition from northern political factions regarding President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), assured that the president will serve his full eight years, with power set to shift to the North in 2031.

Ganduje made this statement on Tuesday, February 11, in Abuja during a meeting with the Tinubu Northern Youth Forum.

He praised the group for its efforts in developing useful election data and assisting with public enlightenment on the government’s tax reforms.

Ganduje noted, “I have even seen that you are assisting the government in public enlightenment for people to understand the tax reform agenda.

“This tax reform, initially was misunderstood, but in the course of time there was a lot of public engagement. I think people have come to understand the whole purpose of the tax reforms.”

He commended the group’s plan to mobilise voters for the 2027 elections, encouraging them to continue their efforts.

He also reiterated that Tinubu’s presidency benefits all regions, stating, “Our president is for the North, our president is for the South, our president is for the six geopolitical zones.”

He reminded the forum that the party had advocated for a Southern president after an eight-year Northern tenure, and with Tinubu in power, the presidency would return to the North after his second term.

Regarding the Tinubu Young Generation Forum, Ganduje expressed confidence in the positive results of the president’s reforms, particularly in the economy.

“There is no doubt so many things went wrong over a long period of time, and it would require, there is no doubt it requires surgery before we can get it right.

“But we are happy that we have started seeing the outcome of the reforms, especially on the economic side and we believe this will continue to yield positive results so that the legacy and the renewed hope agenda will be achieved.”
