In a decisive move to strengthen the foundation of education in Edo State, Governor Monday Okpebholo has approved the long-awaited promotion of 8,476 primary and junior secondary school teachers across the state.
The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mrs. Onomen Goodness Briggs, announced this development, describing it as not only a well-deserved recognition of teachers’ dedication but also a strategic leap towards elevating educational standards.
According to Briggs, the promotion covering the period between 2022 and January 2024 is set to revitalize the morale of educators who have long faced career stagnation.
“Okpebholo’s proactive approach has breathed new life into the basic education sector. Our collaborative efforts are geared towards a comprehensive reform that prioritizes our educators and, ultimately, our students,” she affirmed.
She further emphasized that this bold initiative reflects the governor’s unwavering commitment to revamping the education system and eliminating bureaucratic setbacks that have hindered progress.
“This directive serves as a clear indicator of his resolve to address systemic challenges and deliver tangible results within his first 100 days in office,” Briggs noted.
