In a significant move to bolster the administration of justice in Jigawa State, the Judicial Service Commission has sworn in 19 newly appointed Sharia Court Judges.
Their appointment marks a crucial step in reinforcing the state’s judicial framework and ensuring swift and fair dispensation of justice.
Presiding over the swearing-in ceremony, the Chief Judge and Chairman of the Judicial Service Commission, Justice Umar M. Sadiq, underscored the vital responsibility these judges now bear. He emphasized their role in interpreting Islamic law and resolving disputes while urging them to uphold justice, shun corruption, and maintain the judiciary’s integrity.
According to him, “The newly appointed Alkalis underwent rigorous training and a thorough selection process to ensure their deep understanding of Islamic law and commitment to justice.” He further stated, “Their appointment is expected to enhance the Sharia court system and improve access to justice across various communities in Jigawa State.”
Justice Sadiq reminded the judges of the public’s high expectations, stressing that their duty is to dispense justice without fear or favor. He warned against bribery and corruption, reiterating the importance of an ethical and transparent judiciary.
“You must avoid all forms of bribery and corruption to maintain a judiciary that is free of unethical practices,” he declared.
Echoing these sentiments, the Grand Khadi of Jigawa State, Khadi Sani Salihu, charged the newly appointed judges with the responsibility of upholding the principles of Islamic law while ensuring fairness and transparency.
He reminded them that all eyes were on them and that their conduct would ultimately shape public confidence in the judiciary.

The 19 judges sworn in include Mohammad Abubakar, Ibrahim Adamu Ibrahim, Suleiman Abubakar Suleiman, Lawan Salisu, Shu’aibu Hussain, Rabi’u Jafar Adamu, Muhsin Haruna Hashim, Abdullahi Sabo, and Jafar Hassan Adam.
Others are Abdulkadir Umar Maigari, Umar Abubakar Yahaya, Umar Muktar Shu’aibu, Rufa’i Sabo, Najib Garba, Shu’aibu Nasiru, Nura Mohammad Imam, Abubakar Dalhatu, Muddassir Usman Adam, and Abdullahi Idris.
With this strategic appointment, the Jigawa State judiciary is set to experience a stronger, more efficient Sharia court system, fostering justice and accountability across the state.
