Nigerian billionaire and philanthropist, Folorunso Alakija, has reportedly lost her sight following health complications triggered by a near air mishap.
The 73-year-old oil magnate, known for her vast wealth and deep-rooted faith, allegedly suffered a spike in blood pressure after a distressing flight experience with her husband, Modupe Alakija, Chairman of Famfa Oil.
While reports suggest that her deteriorating eyesight was medically treatable, Alakija is said to have leaned more on her spiritual beliefs rather than seeking conventional medical intervention.
A source claimed that instead of undergoing treatment, she channeled her energy into her Rose of Sharon Glorious Ministry International, a Christian fellowship she founded in 2004.
“She had been having vision issues for a while, but rather than focus on medical treatment, she started a church and sought divine healing. Now, she can’t see,” a source alleged.
Alakija, who once ranked among Forbes’ most powerful women, is no stranger to balancing faith and fortune.
Despite amassing an estimated $1 billion from oil and business ventures, she has remained deeply committed to her religious pursuits, even being ordained as an Apostle on her 69th birthday.

The situation has sparked debate over the intersection of faith, wealth, and healthcare choices.
Some argue that spiritual conviction should not replace medical intervention, while others believe in the power of divine healing.
As speculation swirls, neither Alakija nor her representatives have officially confirmed the reports. Until then, the question remains—did faith triumph, or did it cost her sight?
