Security operatives in Kano have thwarted an alleged plot to incite violence in the state capital, arresting 17 suspected thugs in the process.
The Kano State Police Command confirmed the arrests on Wednesday, citing credible intelligence reports that pointed to a planned violent protest.
In a statement, the command’s spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna, disclosed that the operation was carried out in collaboration with other security agencies.
Security personnel and assets had been strategically deployed across Kano metropolis to forestall any breakdown of law and order.

“As a result of these proactive measures, 17 suspected thugs have been arrested, and an investigation is ongoing. The command is committed to ensuring that the perpetrators of this planned violence are brought to justice,” the statement read.
Authorities have warned against unlawful gatherings, processions, or any acts that could disrupt public peace. The police vowed to take decisive action against individuals or groups attempting to incite violence in the state.
Residents have been urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
The command also expressed gratitude to the people of Kano for their continued support in maintaining peace and stability in the state.
