Tinubu Hosts Sierra Leone President Bio at Aso Villa

President Bola Tinubu is currently in a private discussion with Sierra Leonean President Julius Bio at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Bio arrived at the villa at 12:22 p.m. on Monday, March 3, escorted by the Presidential Guards Brigade’s bagpipers.

He was welcomed by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, before proceeding to the meeting.

Nigeria and Sierra Leone have shared strong diplomatic relations since gaining independence in 1960 and 1961, respectively.

Both nations actively participate in ECOWAS and the African Union, collaborating on regional stability, security, and economic development initiatives.

Nigeria played a critical role in Sierra Leone’s civil war between 1991 and 2002, leading ECOWAS peacekeeping operations and helping restore President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah’s administration after a 1997 military coup.

While diplomatic ties remain robust, trade between the two countries has seen fluctuations in recent years.

The details of the meeting between the two heads of state are yet to be made public
