The gates of the National Assembly Complex in Abuja turned into a battleground on the 5th of March, 2025, as operatives of the Nigeria Police Force forcefully dispersed supporters of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District.
The group had assembled as early as 8:00 am, strategically timing their protest with the resumption of plenary and the anticipated hearing of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions.
However, their demonstration was cut short when security forces intervened, deploying tear gas to break up the crowd an action justified by concerns over public order.
Undeterred, the protesters swiftly regrouped at the Unity Fountain in Abuja, vowing to continue their demonstration.
This unfolding drama is rooted in a heated 20th of February, 2025, altercation between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate President Godswill Akpabio over seating arrangements in the chamber an incident that led to her referral to the Senate’s ethics committee.

But tensions escalated further last Friday, 28th of February, 2025, when the senator made a bombshell accusation: she alleged that Akpabio had sexually harassed her and was now orchestrating a campaign of political persecution after she rejected his advances.
The explosive claims have sent shockwaves through the political sphere, fueling intense scrutiny and public outcry.
