Nigeria to Showcase Gains of Tinubu’s Reforms at France Business Forum

Nigeria is set to highlight the economic strides made under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration at the upcoming France-Nigeria Business Forum in Paris, as the country seeks to attract more foreign investment and strengthen bilateral ties with France.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this known on Friday in Abuja while receiving the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Marc Fonbaustier, who formally invited Nigeria to participate in the forum scheduled for April 10, 2025.

Idris emphasized that President Tinubu’s economic reforms are beginning to yield tangible results, pointing to a stabilization of the naira and a gradual reduction in food prices. He described 2025 as a “year of economic and social consolidation” for Nigeria, stressing that the forum presents an opportunity to showcase the country’s progress to French business leaders.

“We will use the platform of the France-Nigeria Business Forum to take the message of consolidation that the President is desirous to give us this year. The economy is beginning to turn the corner. Food prices that were hitherto higher are beginning to come down. The exchange rate is beginning to show signs of stability,” the Minister stated.

Acknowledging the challenges that often accompany economic reforms, Idris praised President Tinubu’s leadership, noting that his administration’s focus and pragmatism have shortened Nigeria’s “incubation period” for economic recovery. He also reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to implementing agreements signed during Tinubu’s state visit to France in November 2024, where President Emmanuel Macron extended a rare honor to the Nigerian leader.

On his part, Ambassador Fonbaustier described the forum as a key opportunity to deepen France-Nigeria economic cooperation. He pledged the French government’s support in enhancing Nigeria’s public communication capacity and reiterated France’s commitment to fostering stronger trade and investment ties.

“The two presidents have set up an ambitious roadmap to scale up the partnership. Communication and information are crucial, and France hopes to provide some support and know-how in this area,” Fonbaustier said.

The France-Nigeria Business Forum is expected to bring together top French and Nigerian business leaders to explore investment opportunities and strengthen economic collaborations between both nations.
