Tension is mounting in Kaduna as retirees under the state’s Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) have given Governor Uba Sani a 14-day ultimatum to clear their outstanding entitlements or brace for a full-blown protest.
In a peaceful demonstration at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House on the 11th of March, 2025 , the pensioners painted a grim picture of their reality, decrying the unbearable hardship they endure. Hunger, homelessness, and a lack of medical care have become their daily struggle, forcing them to take to the streets in desperation.
Chairman of the group, Professor Nate Danjuma, did not mince words as he issued a stern warning: if their demands remain unmet in two weeks, they will take their protest to the Kaduna State Government House.

“Some of our members are dying of hunger, while others are developing mental illnesses due to the lack of medical care. Many have no homes, and families are falling apart,” he declared, highlighting the dire consequences of the government’s inaction.
Amidst the rising tension, the Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Rabiu, engaged with the protesters, commending their peaceful approach and assuring them that Governor Sani would address their grievances.
However, with the clock ticking, all eyes are now on the government’s next move.
