FG to Establish CNG Conversion Centres in 20 Federal Universities

The federal government has announced plans to set up Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion centres and refuel stations in 20 federal tertiary institutions as part of efforts to promote clean and affordable energy.

The initiative is being implemented through the Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund (MDGIF) in collaboration with Femadec Energy.

Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, disclosed this on Monday during a meeting with vice-chancellors and key stakeholders in Abuja.

Representatives from the MDGIF and the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI) were also in attendance.

Alausa stated that the project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s push for sustainable energy solutions and will help reduce transportation costs for students and lecturers.

The government aims to reach 500 centres by 2025.
