President Bola Tinubu has officially withdrawn the appointments of two Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The decision was revealed on Tuesday through a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a plenary session.
According to the letter, the President revoked the appointments of Mohammad I. Ngoshe, who was to represent Borno State, and Owede Kosioma Eli, his counterpart from Bayelsa State.
The duo had initially been nominated in a letter sent to the Senate on March 11.
While Umar Mukhtar, the current REC in Borno, has been reappointed for another term, Johnson Silnikiem has now been nominated as the new commissioner for Bayelsa.

Other appointees who retained their positions include Umar Yusuf Garba (Kano), Saad Umar (Bauchi), and Chukwuemeka C. Ibeziako (Anambra).
The letter from the Presidency, citing Section 154(1) of the Nigerian Constitution (as amended), emphasized that the latest submission supersedes the earlier communication from March 12.
It also urged the Senate to confirm the nominees promptly.
This latest move adds to a series of electoral appointments and restructuring efforts under President Tinubu’s administration, which continues to shape key institutions ahead of future elections.
