A young man identified only as Sani of Askira Close, Pompomari Bypass, Maiduguri, Borno State, has been making the rounds on social media after he was caught brutally assaulting a young girl for plucking mangoes from a tree within his compound.
The video which has attracted wide attention on Facebook, and was seen by First News on Friday, captured Sani mercilessly flogging the defenceless child with big sticks, sparking outrage and calls for justice.
According to multiple sources, the girl sustained injuries from the beating.

The incident has drawn widespread concern from Nigerians who have strongly condemned the assault, with many calling on the authorities to take swift action against the Sani.
All efforts by First News correspondent to reach the State Police Public Relations Officer, Nahum Daso Kenneth, prove abortive.
However, a Facebook user, identified as Adamu Alieu, claimed that the police had arrested the suspect.
