The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has reported that Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) collected a total of ₦509.84 billion in revenue during the fourth quarter of 2024 (Q4 2024), achieving a collection efficiency of 77.44%.
The data, published in NERC’s Q4 2024 report on Tuesday, revealed that out of the ₦658.40 billion billed to electricity consumers, only 77.44% was successfully recovered by the DisCos. This marks a 2.89 percentage point improvement from the 74.55% collection efficiency recorded in the third quarter of 2024 (Q3 2024), when DisCos collected ₦466.69 billion out of the ₦626.02 billion billed.
According to the report, Eko DisCo recorded the highest collection efficiency at 90%, followed by Ikeja DisCo at 82.63%, maintaining their lead positions from the previous quarter. However, Jos DisCo performed the worst, with the lowest collection efficiency at just 49.68%.

The report highlighted that eight DisCos improved their collection efficiency between Q3 and Q4 2024, with Yola and Kano DisCos recording the most significant improvements. On the other hand, three DisCos saw declines, with Jos and Abuja DisCos experiencing the most substantial drops.
NERC emphasized the importance of efficient revenue collection in sustaining the electricity sector, urging DisCos to adopt better strategies for reducing collection losses and improving service delivery.
