The Rivers State Government has announced the suspension of all political appointees and officeholders across the state, with the directive taking immediate effect.
A statement released on Wednesday, March 26, by the Chief of Staff to the state’s Administrator, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ibas, attributed the decision to the authority granted to him by President Bola Tinubu.
Among those affected are the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff, all commissioners, and members of various boards, agencies, commissions, institutions, and parastatals.

Additionally, Special Advisers, Special Assistants, and Senior Special Assistants are included in the suspension.
The statement instructed the affected officials to transfer their responsibilities to Permanent Secretaries within their respective ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).
In instances where a Permanent Secretary is unavailable, the most senior Director or Head of Administration will assume control.
This directive officially takes effect from Wednesday, March 26,2025.
