The lingering political crisis in Rivers State has taken another dramatic turn as Jerry Omotsegunwa, Special Assistant on Electronic Media to suspended Governor Sim Fubara, questions the unresolved conflict between Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Omotsegunwa insists that both leaders owe the public an explanation regarding the root cause of their fallout.
“The FCT minister has not told us anything that led to the crisis, and the governor too has not provided any clarity,” he stated, underscoring the growing confusion surrounding the political unrest.
Despite the turbulence, Omotsegunwa maintains that Fubara himself remains in the dark about why Wike turned against him.
Their ongoing dispute escalated to a national emergency, prompting President Bola Tinubu to impose emergency rule in Rivers State on the18th of March, 2025 a move that saw Fubara and the State House of Assembly members suspended.
Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, weighed in on the crisis, attributing the conflict to financial disputes.

In an interview with DW, Amaechi also condemned Tinubu’s decision to declare emergency rule, branding it unconstitutional.
However, Omotsegunwa dismissed Amaechi’s assertion as speculative, emphasizing the lack of clear information about the real cause of the crisis.
“As it stands right now, I will not dispute Amaechi’s position even though he has the right to his own opinion. This crisis has dragged on for almost two years now, and nobody has told us what the actual problem is. The other day, when they talked about impeaching the governor, he asked, ‘What is my offence?’ And the FCT minister said the governor tried to destroy his structure and all. These matters put together, we’ve not been able to decipher. So, as much as I don’t want to say he has lied, I also say he has the right to his own opinion, and that is his personal opinion,” Omotsegunwa remarked.
As tensions continue to mount, Rivers State remains a battleground of political uncertainty, leaving the public searching for answers amid a crisis with no clear resolution.
