Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Tuesday intensified efforts to attract foreign investments into the state during a working visit to the United Kingdom.

The governor met with the UK Prime Minister’s Envoy to Nigeria on Trade and Investment, Rt. Hon Florence Eshalomi MP, at the House of Commons in London, where he advocated increased subnational investment, with a spotlight on Osun as a promising destination for UK-based investors.

Accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye, and other government officials, Governor Adeleke emphasized Osun’s strategic advantages, including its vast investment opportunities in mining, agriculture, digital economy, free trade zones, and creative industries. He also cited the state’s population of about five million people as a critical asset for investors.

Governor Adeleke assured the UK government and business community of Osun’s commitment to creating an investor-friendly environment.

According to him, the state has implemented a harmonized tax system to eliminate multiple taxation and introduced a 45-day processing window for Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) for business-related land use. He also highlighted improvements in security and ease of doing business as part of ongoing reforms.

During the visit, an important milestone was achieved as Hon. Igbalaye, on behalf of the Osun State Government, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ESG Management Services UK Ltd., a UK-based investment facilitation firm.

The MoU provides a framework for ESGMS to assist Osun in attracting and facilitating investment opportunities from UK-based companies across sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and solid minerals.

Governor Adeleke described the partnership as a bold step toward unlocking Osun’s economic potential and reaffirmed his administration’s vision to position the state as the economic heartbeat of South-Western Nigeria.

The engagement with the UK envoy and private sector stakeholders marks a key highlight in the governor’s investment drive abroad, as Osun continues to seek strategic partnerships for sustainable development.
