Valentine Ozigbo, a governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, has strongly rejected the outcome of the party’s recent primary election, describing it as a “charade” and “a well-orchestrated heist.”
Ozigbo made the declaration in a statement issued on Tuesday, days after Nicholas Ukachukwu was announced winner of the primary. According to official results, Ukachukwu polled 1,455 votes, while Ozigbo managed only 67 votes. Other contenders, Edozie Madu and Johnbosco Onunkwo, received eight and 26 votes, respectively.
Ozigbo, who is also the former CEO of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria, said he has petitioned the APC appeal committee, challenging the integrity and legitimacy of the exercise.
“That exercise, by all observable standards, was a charade — a well-orchestrated heist designed to deliver a predetermined outcome,” he stated.
He alleged that non-party members were allowed to vote while genuine APC delegates were locked out or violently barred. He also accused the organisers of manipulating the accreditation process and counting votes without transparency.
Ozigbo emphasized that his fight is not about personal ambition but about restoring integrity to Nigeria’s democratic processes.

“I did not join politics to decorate the register or shop for appointments. I came to be part of a generation that restores integrity to our political system, that makes governance accountable, and that builds the kind of country we all deserve,” he said.
Vowing not to be deterred, Ozigbo affirmed he would not pursue another political office as a fallback option, insisting instead on staying in the APC and fighting what he termed “the good fight to its just end.”
Describing the April 5 primary as “a theft against Ndi Anambra,” he urged his supporters to remain resolute, adding that the party still has an opportunity to right the wrongs and present a credible candidate for the November election.
“The Anambra election is a defining moment — not just for our state, but for the credibility of the APC and the soul of our democracy,” Ozigbo said. “The future cannot be bribed or bullied. The people are watching. History is recording.”
