In a move that ends months of speculation surrounding his future, Mohamed Salah has signed a two-year contract extension with Premier League leaders Liverpool.
The 32-year-old Egyptian forward, who has been a key figure in Liverpool’s rise, expressed his excitement about continuing his journey at Anfield, with his new deal running through to 2027.
Salah, who has netted an impressive 243 goals in 394 appearances since his 2017 transfer from Roma, is now the third-highest scorer in Liverpool’s storied history.
His performances this season have been pivotal, contributing 27 goals and 17 assists in the Premier League as the Reds push for their 20th top-flight title.
“I’m excited, of course,” Salah said in a statement. “We have a great team now. Before, we had a great team. I signed because I believe we have a chance to win more trophies. These have been the best years of my career, and I hope to make it 10 years here.”
The contract extension comes at a crucial time for both Salah and the team, as Liverpool is embroiled in a title race under new manager Arne Slot.
The Reds have an 11-point lead with seven matches left, positioning them to potentially seal a historic season.
Salah’s impact on Liverpool extends beyond league performances.
The winger helped the club claim a Champions League title in 2019, their first league crown in 30 years in the 2019/2020 campaign, and has added an FA Cup, two League Cups, the Club World Cup, and a UEFA Super Cup to his trophy collection during his Anfield tenure.
Slot, who is overseeing his first season as manager, hailed Salah’s contributions to the team.
“He has been incredibly valuable for us year after year. Like all our fans, we’re thrilled he’s staying for two more years,” said Slot. “Hopefully, he’ll show once again against West Ham how essential he’s been this season.”

Despite a recent dip in form, with Salah scoring just once in his last seven games, his overall contribution remains undeniable.
The forward’s contract renewal also comes amidst a period of transition for Liverpool, with uncertainty surrounding the futures of fellow stars Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, both of whom are out of contract at the end of the season.
Speculation over Salah’s future had intensified during the season, particularly following comments he made about the slow pace of negotiations.
He had previously hinted at a potential move, suggesting he was “probably more out than in.” However, the new deal firmly squashes rumors, including offers from Saudi Arabia’s Pro League.
This new chapter provides Salah the chance to further cement his legacy, with his current tally of 184 Premier League goals placing him joint-fifth in the competition’s all-time scoring list.
With Ian Rush’s club record of 346 goals still in sight, Salah’s next two years at Liverpool promise to be as record-breaking as his previous ones.
As Liverpool’s focus shifts back to the Premier League title race, all eyes will be on Salah, who remains a crucial part of the club’s plans for continued success.
