Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has issued a public notice dissuading unscheduled visits to the state, warning that any visit capable of sparking political gatherings without prior approval would not be welcomed.
In a press statement released on Monday, April 14, the Governor made it clear that no such visit is expected. “The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, wishes to inform the public that he is not expecting any August visitor to the state today,” the statement read.
According to his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, the Governor is currently involved in high-level consultations aimed at addressing pressing state matters.
“He is currently engaged in high-profile meetings with key state actors to discuss critical issues affecting our state,” the statement added.

The state government also issued a stern warning to individuals or groups planning politically-charged visits without notification. “It is imperative to reconsider such plans, as the safety and security of individuals in this regard cannot be guaranteed,” Kula said.
In particular, the statement directed that visits to Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps must follow official protocols.
“The public is to note that all individuals or groups intending to visit IDPs in Benue State must first seek and obtain written permission from Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA),” the release noted.
Security agencies and the general public have been urged to be vigilant and ensure peace and order across the state.
