The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, for his scathing attack on Senate President Godswill Akpabio, demanding an apology within a week.
VeryDarkMan came under fire for a viral video in which he criticized Akpabio for leading a federal delegation to the Vatican for Pope Francis’ funeral.
In the three-minute clip, the influencer described Akpabio’s attendance as “shameful,” arguing that the Senate president should have been focused on visiting states suffering from violent killings rather than participating in the religious event.
The APC response came swiftly through a statement on Sunday, April 27, from Blessing Agbomhere, the Zonal Organizing Secretary of the South-South APC.
He accused VeryDarkMan of misusing his platform to slander and attack Akpabio without regard for the facts.
Agbomhere stated, “VeryDarkMan is becoming notorious for blackmail, slander and character assassination while pretending to be an advocate for the masses and social crusader.”

The APC official also defended Akpabio’s role at the Vatican, pointing out that his appointment to lead the delegation was made by President Bola Tinubu.
He explained that Akpabio’s attendance reflected his personal character and the trust placed in him by the President, noting, “What exactly is wrong with that? Being a devout Catholic and family man with unblemished character, President Tinubu saw in Akpabio a worthy ambassador of Nigeria to such an event.”
Agbomhere further demanded that VeryDarkMan apologise for his comments and cease from undermining the administration’s reputation, stating, “I am, with this statement, issuing VeryDarkMan a one-week ultimatum to immediately tender an unreserved apology to the Senate president for the slanderous comments.”
The APC also took the opportunity to remind Nigerians that the current government is making strides to combat the country’s security challenges, which have been exacerbated by past administrations.
Agbomhere stressed that, despite the complexity of the security issues, President Tinubu has given clear directives to security chiefs to implement new strategies for restoring peace in the country.
He concluded, “The complex security problems in the country cannot be wished away with a wave of the hand; it takes time to achieve a semblance of peace, and that is a commitment that the Tinubu-led administration made to Nigerians while assuming office and is still committed to achieving.”
