17th Headies Awards: Full List of Winners Unveiled

The biggest stars in music gathered under one roof at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Sunday night.

The Headies Awards made a highly anticipated return to Nigeria after spending the last two editions in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A.

This year’s event, themed “Back to Base” and “Apologetically African,” celebrated outstanding achievements in African music between the 1st of April, 2023, and the 31st of July, 2024.

The 17th Headies raised the stakes by introducing two new categories: “Soundtrack of the Year” and “Best Performer (Live),” giving more room to spotlight the artistry shaping the industry.

Despite the excitement, reports revealed that the show struggled with poor time management and technical glitches. These issues led to an abrupt end to the ceremony, leaving major awards unannounced.

By 3:32am WAT, the following categories still had no winners declared: Best R&B Single, Best Collaboration, Lyricist On The Roll, Best Rap Album, Best Inspirational Single, Best West African Artiste of the year, Best North African Artiste of the year, Best South African Artiste of the year, Best Performer (Live), among others.

Meanwhile, Funke Akindele’s blockbuster, ‘A Tribe Called Judah,’ clinched the first-ever Soundtrack of the Year award, adding another milestone to her record-breaking success.
